You can learn almost anything else with unlimited access to Lynda provided by the NYPL.
Lynda is an online educational site that includes over 5,700 courses (and over 180,000 videos) in popular fields like web design, web development, IT, education/instruction, media production, and business. Experts create and deliver all courses as well as provide supplemental materials like exercise files and relevant work samples. Users will need to create accounts in order to track course progress, create playlists of potential coursework, and keep course notes.
Earlier this month the NYPL partnered with Kanopy to bring you up to 10 free streaming movies a month.
The Library for Performing Arts has a vast collection of Broadway and Off-Broadway plays to view (onsite only.) You must have a legitimate reason for viewing. Saying “you missed it on Broadway” won’t cut it!
Want to see an early recording of Alvin Ailey dancers performing Revelations? You can view it here. All you need to do is fill out a form.
Need some help on your job hunt? NYPL can assist you with your resume and help you with your interview skills. They also provide many other services. It is a one-stop-shop for job seekers!
Short on funds but need a professional meeting space?
Small meeting rooms are available free at the SIBL library for groups of 2-6 people working on a business project. Time slots are 1 or 2 hours, and Wi-fi is available. Please note meeting room times start on the hour. Rooms are available during Library hours only (no Sundays). (Please note: a larger room, for 6-10 people, may be reserved on selected dates for Monday, Friday, or Saturday only.)
Love to read, but don’t have the time?
